NXT ÆRA TECHNOLOGY
ONE-K NXT FIBERSPOKES represent a wheel build based on a continuous fiber structure. The construction combines very low weight with a direct and composed ride feel, delivering particular benefits on long distances and demanding surfaces.
NXT-FIBERSPOKES SPOKESTAR
Our patented process enables the production of multiple spokes from a single, continuous fiber tape. During manufacturing, small loops are formed at the ends of each spoke. These loops are used to connect the spokes to both the hub and the rim.
MATERIAL
The spokes are made from fibers with very high tensile strength and stiffness, embedded in an epoxy resin matrix. This combination makes them highly resistant to cuts and impacts. The fiber composite exhibits pronounced damping characteristics, significantly increasing comfort and grip on rough terrain.
LOOPS
In fiber-reinforced composites, a loop is considered a particularly high-performance connection. It distributes loads over a large area and keeps the structure closed. Since the fiber tape has no open ends, a typical weak point found in many composite systems is eliminated. In the central section of the spoke, the fibers are precisely aligned in the load direction, allowing the mechanical properties to be fully utilized.
CONSTRUCTION
A wheel consists of four spoke stars, with two stars on each side of the hub. The stars are oriented so that under torsional load, one star absorbs compressive forces while the other takes tensile forces. This construction follows the fundamental layout of classic spoked wheels, resulting in a ride feel that remains familiar and predictable.
SPOKENIPPLES
The connection to the rim is made via nipples and nuts positioned in the spoke holes. The external shape of the nipple is based on conventional spoke nipples and serves to hold the spoke securely, preventing it from twisting during truing. Tensioning and truing are carried out from the rim side using nuts that are screwed onto the nipple.
The spherical head of the nut allows perfect alignment of the spoke between rim and hub. The contact surface corresponds to that of a standard spoke nipple. As a result, the rims do not require special drilling or any other specific adaptations for our spoke system.
ONE-K ÆRA RIMS
The rims feature an internal width of 23 mm and an external width of 29 mm. They are available in two depths: 35 mm and 50 mm. The rim profile is optimized for maximum aerodynamic efficiency, ensuring that—together with the slender FIBERSPOKE bladed spokes—they deliver outstanding performance not only on climbs but also on flat terrain.
NON+ HUBS
The spoke stars are mounted on small pins on the hub. The flange diameter is deliberately designed to be exceptionally large in order to achieve extremely high torsional stiffness. Combined with the low overall weight, this enables very direct acceleration and outstanding stability under braking.
CERAMICSPEED BEARINGS
The hubs are equipped with coated CeramicSpeed ceramic bearings. These are characterized by extremely low friction combined with maximum durability, achieved through a coating that effectively prevents corrosion.
CONICAL RATCHET SYSTEM
The freehub uses a conical ratchet system with 45 teeth. Due to its design, the ratchet provides up to 400% more contact surface than conventional ratchet systems. This allows for extremely low weight while maintaining exceptional durability.
